iii. Two-Way Switch: These are called “three-way switches” by the American naming system, which is why there is some confusion among laymen who suddenly dive deep into the electrical industry. They can control 1 appliance from 2 locations. They contain 3 contact terminals, with one common terminal (“COM”) and two interchangeable ones. These switches are generally used in staircases, basements, and large hallways, to help end-users control lighting or fans from convenient locations. They do not have an “on” and “off” marking, given that there is no fixed live position. They are a little complicated to install, though easy to work.
iv. Intermediate Switch: Called “four-way switches” in the American terminology, these electrical switches control 1 fixture from 3 different locations.
